Paradox of Technology

The interesting paradox of any technology – from written language to the iPad – is that with the benefits there always comes a cost. The usual reasoning is “it will help me to not forget tasks and to do more of them”, which is sometimes true. But the cost is a weakening and an atrophy of our natural mental (vs tech) memory, organization, and planning. This is not an condemnation of technology – I am obviously a big fan – but we must be aware of the costs so we can manage them.
